Owing to a rich cultural heritage, glorified past and strategic location makes Rajasthan an important state of India. Lying in the western part of the country, the princely state shares domestic border with five other states.Apart from this, it also shares its border with Pakistan and hence plays a pivotal role in Indian political arena. Rajasthan, the land of the Kings is known for its, bravery, sacrifice and heritage.
BJP and Congress are the two prominent political parties of the state. After the death of Mr. Madanlal Sainiji, BJP is in search for a new state president.
Two names are in the front race for the BJP state president-ship. Mr.Satish Poonia is the current MLA from Amer and prominent promising leader of Rajasthan, who has been engaged in National building program since his college days.
A leader who is known by his commitment to ideology and party in national interest. In his early days he was student leader and a prominent face of ABVP. Mr.Poonia is a graduate from Maharaja College, Rajasthan University and post graduate in Geography. He has also earned the LLB degree from Rajasthan University.
In the past, Mr. Poonia was General secretary of the state BJP for four consecutive terms and currently he is MLA and spokes person of State BJP.
Mr. Poonia comes from a humble background and known for his social engineering.
After the landslide victory of BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, fair representation is given to Prominent communities at centre. Now if we see through social perspective, indeed, it is an immediate requirement of the BJP to pacify the anger of neighbouring states as well as to declare BJP state president. It is important for BJP to give message to the JAT community of Rajasthan, Haryana, Western UP and Madhya Pradesh
Mr. Poonia is known for his RSS upbringing. In the last many years former CM of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje has ensured that none from RSS background gets any prominence. This internal tussle of organization denied any relevant post to Mr.Poonia despite his two long decades of association.
BJP is also in search for a visionary, an accepted leader for all castes and also with RSS background. Mr. Poonia has always kept a low profile, is young, dynamic and without any major controversy.
If one should apply mind, it is evident that former Central minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, current Cabinet minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore, all of the three hails from Rajput community. In such circumstances it becomes compulsory for the party to give command to Mr. Satish Poonia.
Prominent Dalit face of Rajasthan, Arjun Ram Meghwal has also been made a central minister.
In such conditions it is expected that BJP president might be from Jat or Brahmin community. Jat community has dominance in more than 40 seats in the state. In such conditions, Mr. Poonia’s chances are high because of his acceptance in 36 castes.
